Leipziger Straße 70-72, 04435 Schkeuditz

Historical apartment building

The structure, built in 1930, is located in Schkeuditz, right at the gates to Leipzig. In the 1920s and 30s, very plain and nondescript apartment buildings were constructed. Their simple and plain style was a marked contrast to the ornately decorated structures erected during the Grunderzeit in the mid-to-late 19th century.

Not only the facades changed, the floor plans and construction also reflected the changing economic realities of the time. Thinner walls and floors are characteristic of the apartments of that era. Form followed function.
